The Pokemon Trading Card Game: Great Encounters expansion set was released in early 2008. The set consists of 109 cards each with an expanded total of 76 different Pokemon and 60 Trainer Cards. This set was the first to feature the new Diamond & Pearl Pokemon from the Sinnoh region and includes several all-time fan favorite Pokemon.

Pokemon featured in Great Encounters include Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Luxray, and Magmortar. All are featured on rare cards along with many other pokemon in the set. Each card in the set contains different games and battle play mechanics to generate a unique gaming experience.

The set also includes several new Trainer cards that add a level of strategy to the game. These include Pokémon Communication, Professor Elm’s Training Method, Poké Turn, and Poké Blower cards. These cards can be used to shape the game and affect the outcomes of battles.

Rare and foil cards in the set include Rayquaza, Rhyperior, Dusknoir, and Scizor and can be found in packs that contain basic energy cards such as Fire, Water, Grass, and Lightning. The set also offers a variety of different theme decks; choose from the theme decks based on Sinnoh’s greatest trainers, Pokémon, or pick any one of the various others.

The Pokémon TCG: Great Encounters features existing Pikachu and Gyarados cards as well as featuring new Ghost-type Pokémon such as Drifloon and Dusknoir, a first for the Trading Card Game. These cards add flavor, fun, and Pokémon-Mastery skills to the game. Thus, budding Pokemon Masters can boost their game with the Great Encounters set.
